Skin types I – III are treated with the Alexandrite laser (755nm) Skin types IV – VI are treated with the Nd YAG (1064nm)
Our industry leading lasers use concentrated energy to target each individual hair follicle. The light is then absorbed by the hair’s pigment and the intense heat of the laser damages the hair follicle, which inhibits the hair growth.
Most individuals will require an average of 6-10 treatments, spaced out at four to six-week intervals to achieve a 70-90% reduction. However, this is dependent upon individual skin tone and hair types.

Yes, at Skin and Follicle we can provide safe and effective laser hair removal for darker skin types using the ND Yag laser by Cynosure Elite+. The number of treatments required is usually from 6-10 sessions depending on the area that is being treated, the hair growth and thickness. This will be discussed at your consultation and patch test.
In short term, no. Laser hair removal works by heating the hair follicles to stop new hairs from growing. This puts the hair follicles in a state of dormancy for a long period of time- much longer than with shaving and waxing. When the hairs do grow back , they’ll be lighter, finer, and fewer in number.
Although the procedure is often touted as a form of permanent hair removal, laser treatment only reduces the number of unwanted hairs in a given area. It does not get rid of unwanted hairs completely.
