Eyelid Lift (Blepharoplasty)
The ageing process results in looseness of skin of the upper eyelids that can give a hooded appearance. People often notice that their eye shadow is more difficult to apply due to the folds of skin in the upper eyelids. The upper blepharoplasty is a procedure to remove the excess skin from the upper eyelids. This results in a more youthful appearance to the eyes and gives an eyelid lift.
The procedure is performed under a local anaesthetic which means you will be awake during the operation. A few injections help numb the area that is being treated. Our surgeons are all fully GMC registered and qualified consultant plastic surgeons. This is a day case procedure that will take about 45-60 minutes and performed in our minor operations theatre in our clinic located in Edgbaston, Birmingham.
Frequently Asked Questions
There will be some swelling and bruising initially which may take 1-2 weeks to settle. You will normally have stitch removal 7-10 days after your procedure. The final results may take a few months whilst all the swelling resolves.
There are number of devices that claim to tighten the skin of the upper eyelids. These devices do not remove the excess skin. The only way to remove this excess skin is for it to be surgically excised using our blepharoplasty procedure. The devices will often give short term results that need repeating many times whilst the upper blepharoplasty will give a long term result.
The upper blepharoplasty costs from £2500 when performed at Skin and Follicle. The price includes your consultation, procedure and follow up appointments.
